We tried the veal schnitzel and veal perkelt. For the appetizer we had fried cheese and a shopska salad, and for dessert homemade pancakes.
The veal was incredibly tender and flavorful, something that is hard to describe in words. The Viennese veal schnitzel is particularly tasty, and we believe it may be the only place in the city where the meat is prepared in this traditional way. It is clear that great care is taken with the quality of both the meat and the overall food.
The restaurant has a pleasant outdoor garden, while the indoor space accommodates around ten tables. It has the feel of a classic Serbian tavern-style restaurant, with square tables and tablecloths. Everything is clean and well kept, and the walls are filled with photographs of the hosts and guests who have visited over the years.
You feel as if you have come to someone’s home, warm, relaxed, and welcoming.
The service is excellent. You are served by waiters who have been working here for many years, and you can learn a lot about a place when you notice that the staff does not frequently change. It usually means that the owner treats employees well, the working conditions are good, and guests are welcomed by familiar faces.
Unfortunately, this kind of tradition is slowly disappearing in the hospitality industry, but places like this show that it still exists.
