We tried the fantastic fish soup, packed with fish, so if you are only a little hungry, you can easily order just the fish soup and a salad for your main meal. They do not skimp on ingredients, and the taste is homemade, as if it had been prepared in someone’s home kitchen. While we were sitting and enjoying our meal, around twenty people came through the restaurant just to order the soup, which tells you everything about its quality and flavor.
For the main course, we ordered grilled zander and trout, along with a fresh salad and roasted peppers. One thing to note is that each portion comes with two fish, so if you cannot finish everything at lunch, you will easily have enough left for dinner as well. The fish is crispy, perfectly cooked, and well seasoned, and the menu also includes white fish and grilled dishes for those not in the mood for fish.
The ambience is a story in itself, as the owner is an artist who spent years creating what exists there today. Everything was done authentically, using stone, wood, and even materials brought from the Drina River. The white staircase, the summer fish pond, and the fish scales displayed above the stove inside the restaurant all create an almost fairy-tale-like setting. It is a rare kind of place where you can truly feel the owner’s spirit and see how much attention was once given to every detail.
The waiter was very kind and immediately told us that the soup portions were very generous, and that we could order a smaller portion if we were also having a main course, and we were grateful for that. The staff is very pleasant, the atmosphere is excellent, and one small note: bring cash, because we noticed that most guests were paying in cash. We will definitely come back to try the grilled dishes as well and to support places like this, full of hospitality and good energy. If you are exploring where to eat and which restaurants in Loznica are worth visiting, Restaurant Gile is one you should not miss.
