For our meal, we ordered Paja’s skewer, which comes with several types of meat and grilled vegetables, as well as crispy chicken coated with seeds and stuffed with kačkavalj cheese. For salads, we chose a garden salad and a cabbage salad, which was seasoned beautifully.
The crispy chicken came in a very generous portion, so we shared it. The skewers were tasty, although the portion was a bit smaller, so if you are very hungry, feel free to order something extra on the side.
Here you can try excellent grilled dishes, baked beans with sausage, goulash, and we also noticed that many people come to pick up meals from the daily menu. The offer depends on what is freshly prepared that day, and the prices are very reasonable.
This is a true ethno restaurant where a lot of attention has been given to detail. Inside, the tables are covered with yellow checkered tablecloths, with wood and stone details throughout the space, an accordion on the wall and cheerful waiters who add to the warm atmosphere.
The garden is especially beautiful and full of charm. Every detail has been carefully placed, from the naïve-style mural on the wall and the bicycle decorated with flowers, to the bench painted with village motifs.
The owner really deserves praise for the effort put into recreating the spirit of old times. You get the feeling that you are somewhere on a salaš in Vojvodina, not in the centre of Zrenjanin.
While we were having lunch, tamburica musicians were playing the whole time. It is also worth mentioning that there is live music here every day except Monday.
The waiters work like a well-oiled machine. The restaurant is very busy, with guests constantly coming and going, but the staff are well coordinated and everything runs smoothly.
While we were having lunch, a christening celebration was being prepared outside, a smaller wedding celebration was taking place inside, and several other tables were occupied by guests who had simply come for lunch.
Make sure to book a table in advance, especially because it can get very busy. The hosts are very kind and will certainly do their best to find you a good table.
